Ingredients
  

Bread
  • 1 loaf day-old bread, cubed
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons dried sage
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 0.5 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Toast bread cubes for 10 minutes.
  2. Melt butter and cook onion and celery until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Mix toasted bread, vegetables, herbs, broth, eggs, and parsley in a bowl.
  4. Transfer to a greased dish, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake 15 more minutes.

Notes

For extra flavor, add chopped mushrooms or sausage.
