Ingredients
  

Cake Batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Buttercream Frosting
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Garnish
  • sprinkles, food coloring, or fresh fruit for decoration

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C); grease and line pans.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cream butter, then add eggs and vanilla. Alternate adding dry mix and milk, then bake for 25–30 mins.
  3. Cool cakes, then make frosting by beating butter, adding sugar, vanilla, and milk. Assemble and decorate.

Notes

Ensure cakes are completely cooled before frosting to prevent melting.
