Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare cake pans.
- Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Blend banana, applesauce, milk, and syrup; add egg and vanilla.
- Combine wet and dry; fill pans and bake for 20-23 minutes. Cool completely.
- Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form. Prepare blueberry sauce if coloring is desired, then fold into whipped cream.
- Frost the cake, assemble layers, and decorate as desired.
