Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt butter in a skillet, sauté onion and celery until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Mix bread, sautéed vegetables, sage, thyme, salt, pepper, and parsley in a bowl. Add broth and egg if using, mix well.
- Transfer to a greased dish, cover with foil, and bake 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake 10-15 more minutes until golden.
Notes
For extra flavor, add chopped mushrooms or cooked sausage.
