Ingredients
  

Apples
  • 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread melted butter and caramel sauce in a cake pan, then arrange apple slices on top.
  3. Mix dry ingredients; beat eggs, add milk and vanilla, then combine with dry ingredients.
  4. Pour batter over apples and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  5. Cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a plate to serve.

Notes

For best results, use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
