Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook pasta until al dente, then drain.
- Mix ricotta, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Layer sauce, half of the pasta, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella in a baking dish.
- Repeat layers, top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan, cover with foil.
- Bake for 25 minutes, uncover, bake 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden. Garnish with basil.
Notes
For a richer flavor, let the baked ziti rest for 5 minutes before serving.
