Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 12 oz ziti pasta
Cheese
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Other ingredients
  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese additional for topping
Fresh basil (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook pasta until al dente, then drain.
  2. Mix ricotta, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Layer sauce, half of the pasta, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella in a baking dish.
  4. Repeat layers, top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan, cover with foil.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes, uncover, bake 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden. Garnish with basil.

Notes

For a richer flavor, let the baked ziti rest for 5 minutes before serving.
