  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 0.5 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch cake pans.
  2. Mix flour, powdered sugar, cocoa powders, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Beat in eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla until combined.
  3. Divide batter between pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  5. Frost with your favorite chocolate frosting. Decorate as desired.
